Pop Up Yin Yoga

Yin is a slower, more gentle style of yoga that works on opening the body and mind. Poses are done on the ground in seated or reclined positions and focused on longer deeper holds. Unlike other practices that focus on strengthening, heat building, and activation of the muscles, yin’s objective is to deactivate and to allow ourselves to release deeper into the connective tissues throughout the body. Poses are focused on passive release with the use of props for support and are typically held for 3-5 minutes each. After a few minutes of holding these poses, the body begins to find more release while helping to open and strengthen the joints. For those that have a hard time being still, this is a great mental practice. It may seem slow and gentle, but yin still offers a challenge of seeking our physical, mental, and emotional edges. There is great strength in surrender.
